Wanting to get a head start on your college applications? UT-Austin and Apply Texas have confirmed that the Spring/Fall 2021 essay topics remain the same from the previous cycle. The Common Application and the U California System Insight Questions also appear unchanged.

No applicants anywhere are required to submit Apply Texas essays B or C.

I’m also understandably receiving many inquiries regarding Covid-19 and college admissions. I share my thoughts here.

All UT-Austin applicants whether they’re submitting Apply Texas or the Coalition Application must submit responses to the following questions.

Apply Texas Essay A Tell Us Your Story

Tell us your story. What unique opportunities or challenges have you experienced throughout your high school career that have shaped who you are today?

UT recommends submissions between 500 and 700 words. Unless Apply Texas implements a hard word limit, the actual application allows you to submit upwards of 800 words. My clients generally submit Essay A’s between 650 and 750 words.

"Can my UT-Austin Essay A and Short Answers Be Longer Than 700 and 300 Words?" Yes.

UT-Austin Short Answer Prompts

These essay topics apply only to UT-Austin and not other Apply Texas universities. UT recommends 250-300 word responses but Apply Texas allows up to around 400. Most of my clients submit short answers between 300 and 350 words.
